Born and raised in Hahnville, Louisiana, Kernell Jupiter is the son of Josie and Freddie Jupiter Jr. Kernell attended local schools in his community, where he cultivated a strong belief that hard work and dedication are essential keys to success. He began his professional career at the Occidental Petroleum plant, but his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start *Kernie J's Catering*, eventually resigning from Occidental to pursue his business full-time.
In 2005, Kernell joined Centerplate at the Louisiana Superdome (now Caesars Superdome) as a Catering Manager. His consistent dedication and success quickly earned him a promotion to Director of Catering and Suites in 2006. By 2008, he had risen to the position of General Manager, overseeing operations at the Caesars Superdome, Smoothie King Center, and Champion Square. Recognized for his leadership and operational excellence, Kernell was named *General Manager of the Year* by Centerplate in 2012 and Sodexo Live in 2025
Throughout his career, Kernell's passion for hospitality has helped him rise through the ranks while fostering the next generation of leaders. He remains committed to youth mentorship, often citing that “it starts with us” when discussing the importance of guiding young people toward future success.
Kernell is actively involved in several professional and community organizations, including the National Association of Catering and Events (NACE) and the Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA). His involvement with organizations like Son of a Saint and the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club further exemplifies his dedication to giving back and supporting youth development.
He is also a member of the *Province Prince Krewe* (2019–present), serving in leadership roles as Lieutenant (2019–present) and Co-Captain (2025). A woman deeply rooted in faith, Genika is guided by one of her favorite scriptures, Isaiah 53:5:
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
